Hi,
my name is Laura Meyer, and I’m currently a senior at Saint
Louis University. I originally hail from the state of Ohio,
but lately it’s become a blue state, and I decided I needed
a change. What better place to move to than Missouri, where
people are proud to be Republican and are not afraid to show
it! Why else would it be called the “Show Me State”? I
started at Saint Louis University in the fall of 2004, and
after volunteering on the 72-hour campaign for Bush-Cheney,
I was hooked on politics. However, it was not until my
sophomore year that I began to become more involved, serving
as secretary for my school’s chapter, a job that I still
hold today.
Most say I am
a people-person, and I guess that’s true, because I always
love meeting new people! In my free time I work for a
catering company, and the ability to meet new people every
night gives me so much satisfaction. And I never know whom I
am going to meet. One time, we catered a private donor party
for Mitt Romney, and my boss, knowing what a huge Republican
I am, placed me in the same small room as Romney and the big
donors during the private cocktail hour. I was on cloud nine
most of the night, hanging out with some of the biggest
names in St. Louis Republican politics, as well as Governor
Blunt and one of my idols, Senator Jim Talent.
I feel so
blessed to be a part of the executive board this school
year, and it is my hope that we will strengthen this
organization in the coming months to prepare for an exciting
November!
